Born in Berlin as 3rd child of Annemarie née Schrader (*1916, Hameln -†1984, Saarlouis) and Werner Beissenhirtz (*1907 Dresden -†1944, Königsberg), book sellers in Stettin

3 siblings: Joachim and Wolfgang Beissenhirtz, and Monika Finkernagel née Beissenhirtz

Married Juan Delius in Dortmund in 1962

Has lived and worked in Dortmund, Göttingen, Oxford, Durham, Bochum, and now in Konstanz,
with shorter sabbaticals in Stockholm (as a child), La Jolla, Seewiesen, and Barcelona

2 children: Julia Antonia Monika and Tobias Pablo Werner, both British, both living in Berlin; Tobias with his wife Ciska Jansen from the Netherlands
